The Crown directed a stay of proceedings in a sexual assault case against Trevor Martin’s client, on the second day of what was supposed to be a six-day jury trial in Abbotsford, BC. Martin began cross-examining the Crown’s key witness in the afternoon on the first day of trial. The cross-examination was so effective that the Crown decided to drop the charge rather than continue with the trial. On the morning of the second day, before the cross-examination was even over, the Crown directed a stay of proceedings, bringing the prosecution to an end. The client walked out of court with their freedom and no criminal record.
